My Love of Family History
It all started with my grandmother!
Wonderful conversations about our family’s past set me on a path to develop a love of genealogy and family history as a young girl.
I was fascinated by the memorable moments her family experienced growing up in the Virgin Islands.
Inspired by her stories, I wiled away countless hours in the local library to uncover even more family secrets. What fun!
Having this passion early on helped me capture many of the stories that I now share.
The Inspiration for the Blog
Early in 2015, I attended one of the largest genealogy conferences in the world, Rootstech.
The conference buzz was all about the importance of preserving one’s family history through story-telling.
Inspired by their message, I wrote and shared my first blog post!
Since 2015, I’ve shared over 300 stories!
Whether you’re an islander or a visitor, I hope you find these stories fascinating!
They are timeless nuggets of Virgin Islands history.
Help preserve them!
Email them to your friends or share them using the social media buttons.
Too much of our history has already been lost!
