The History of the Reef Bay Estate House

So much of St. John’s history has been lost over time.

The Virgin Islands National Park in conjunction with the Office of History and Historic Architecture prepared a study on the Par Force Estate and the Reef Bay home to share the history of sugar production on the island.

This little PDF booklet is fascinating.

The Findings

Onsite examinations and inspections were made in 1969 which studied the plot plans, the general condition of the ruins, its uses, and purpose long ago.

All of their findings were included in this administrative report. 

It’s amazing what stories the existing structures had to tell after so many years.
