Visitors have loved the Virgin Islands since they first started arriving on steamers at the turn of the century.
Others arrived by private yacht and anchored in the beautiful bay.
Recently, I’ve started collecting postcards from past visitors and sharing their comments and thoughts about their holidays.
Some are really quite interesting while others are funny.
Here’s what one visitor enjoyed the best while on her vacation in 1967.
Island Tours and Rum Swizzles
Dear Cousin,
We arrived at San Juan on Monday at 9:30 pm.
Today, we flew to the Virgin Islands.
Toured ~ Drank rum Swizzles and ate at the Virgin Islands Hilton.
Then shopped.
Sure spent my money.💰
Bought beautiful sweaters, perfumes and booze (allowed 5 bottles) real cheap.
A friend of mine came with me.
We just arrived back in our San Geronimo Hilton Park, having some Irish Whisky.
The weather was hot and humid.
