The Tramway Cablecars
The Tramway was the Caribbean’s biggest attraction when it opened in the 1960s in St. Thomas.
This was one of our favorite places to visit as kids.
The dramatic cablecar climbed high above Charlotte Amalie withย breathtakingly, beautiful views of the harbor and town below.
The higher we went, the smaller everything looked below.
The first of the twelve towers needed to support the cables was installed in the summer of 1963.
They were transported up from the West Indian Company dock by helicopter one by one.

Flag Hill
Signal Hill, more commonly known as Flag Hill is one of the tallest mountain top elevations in the Virgin Islands.
At the top, the 360-degree view is stunning. ย You can see all the surrounding islands including St. Croix.
This property has had a long and bumpy history with all the hurricane losses it suffered and the many times its been rebuilt.
Today, it’s known as the St. Thomas Skyrideย at Paradise Point and the panoramic views of the beautiful Caribbean waters are still as stunning.
