Colorful Painting
Hundreds of artists have captured the beauty of the Virgin Islands in their own way. π¨
Street scenes, panoramic views, harbor views and many more have come to life on their canvases right before their eyes.
Our most famous artist, born on the island of St. Thomas, was Camille Pissarro.
He was known as the “Dean of the Impressionist painters.”
He had a kind, warmhearted personality which reflected in his beautiful paintings.

Not much is known about his visit to the islands.
The painting was discovered in the artist’s Nashville, Indiana art studio in November 2013, more than seven years after his passing.
