The island of St. Thomas was my childhood home.

Its harbor town of Charlotte Amalia is built across the hills running down into a horseshoe-shaped bay.
The hills are as green as the finest ever seen above Queenstown.
Look to the ocean-tired traveler, the water is as blue as the Bay of Naples, and the houses are painted with pink or blue, with red roofs or stained with the yellow of age.
The air, the sea, and the palm trees sing of romance and whisper the legends of the days of the cruel and bloodthirsty pirates of long ago.”
I wish I had appreciated the beauty of the island more as I was growing up.
Sometimes so much is taken for granted until we see things through the eyes of a first-time visitor.
